The 17 Piece Saline Big Band has been playing all over SouthEast Michigan for weddings, picnics, graduation parties, dinner dancing, sumer concerts in the parks of many cities, large parties in homes, and many other venues. It is a direct outgrowth of the the Saline Music program and has been serving the Schools and Community of Saline Michigan, since 1973. It supports the schools with scholarships, instrument grants, and performance opportunities for advanced students. In addition, the band does occasional joint concerts with both Middle and high school students. The band also gives the Music program access to its music library. Over the years the band has acquired and maintains a large music library of old and new big band arrangements. There are many standard arrangements, and arrangements that were created directly from the original phonograph records. We also have original arrangements and compositions by Andy Neilson and other members. The band plays at several community events each year and also plays engagements all over SouthEast Michigan.
